Juan Diaz De leon, DDS

Dr. Diaz is so freaking good! I’ve been going here for a few years and he always makes me laugh and does a great job. Had my first cavity today and didn’t even need numbing because he’s that dang good!

Dr. Juan Diaz de Leon grew up in Orem Utah. After high school he was part of the inaugural men’s soccer program at Dixie State University. He then served a full-time mission for his Church in Independence, MO. He went to Brigham Young University and studied Exercise science. He then went on to The University of Utah for rigorous training to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Diaz married his high school sweetheart, Allie, and they have four energetic children and two rambunctious dogs. They enjoy spending time outside and giving back to the community. They are huge sports fans and love supporting all the local teams. Doctor Diaz is committed to education and is a member of several organizations like, The American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of LDS Dentists and the American Dental Association. Being a part of these organizations help him remain up to date on the most current and advanced procedures including root canals, dental implants, tooth extraction and more so he can provide his patients with the best care possible.

Shona Teeple, DDS

Dr. Teeple made things seem very simple and straightforward. Overall, the experience was remarkably positive and pleasant, and I would definitely recommend her to anyone in possession of a mouth.

Dr. Teeple is known for her calm, compassionate approach to patient care and her exceptional bedside manner. She has a natural ability to put patients at ease, especially those who feel anxious about visiting the dentist. By taking the time to listen carefully, explain procedures in a clear and reassuring way, and create a welcoming environment, Dr. Teeple helps even the most nervous patients feel comfortable and confident in their care. Originally from Salt Lake City, Dr. Teeple has deep roots in Utah and a strong appreciation for its natural beauty. She completed her undergraduate in Colorado, double majoring in Molecular Biology and Physiology. Before pursuing dentistry, Dr. Teeple worked in medical research at the University of Utah where she built a strong foundation in science and analytical thinking. During that time, she volunteered as a director for CARE Fair, a free health and dental event. Her volunteer work helped her realize her passion was in direct patient care. This inspired her to leave academia and follow a path into dentistry, where she could make a more personal and immediate impact on people’s lives. She went to Indiana University for dental school and met her husband while living in the Midwest. Although her education and career have taken her to different parts of the country, she has always been drawn back to Utah, where the mountains and easy access to the outdoors feel like home. Outside the office, Dr. Teeple enjoys a full and active family life. She and her husband have two young daughters. Their household also includes an 11-year-old Dalmatian named Kalamazoo and a cat she rescued from the streets of Indianapolis. Much of her free time is spent with her children and dog, whether visiting the park or heading out on a hike. When she and her husband can find time for a night out, they enjoy going to live music performances or comedy shows.

Dr. Luis Franco - Endodontist

I had a retreat root canal done yesterday, and have had zero pain afterward. Dr. Franco has the nicest bedside manner and has the greatest skills to go along with kindness. I highly recommend using him for your endodontics!

Dr. Franco is a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as an officer. He received his degree in Flight Operations from Westminster College, DDS from the University of Utah and completed his residency in Endodontics at Boston University. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics, the American Dental Association, the Utah Dental Association and Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association. Dr. Franco has a passion for educating others about patient care and the incredibly interesting world of endodontics. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, swimming and learning how to play the piano and electric guitar.

Dr. Shaun Heward - Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon

I had oral surgery today. I had anesthesia and everything went perfectly. The whole team was great! Dr. Shaun Heward, the surgeon, is so caring and kind. He called me twice before my surgery to explain everything that would be done and to answer my questions. It really put me at ease.

Dr. Shaun Heward was born and raised in Sandy, Utah. He attended Alta High School and completed his undergraduate at University of Utah. During this time he worked as a dental laboratory technician making crowns and bridges. He then moved to Lexington, Kentucky where he completed dental school at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Following dental school, he began medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School. While at the University of Michigan, he also completed his internship in general surgery, residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and was a chief resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Heward has extensive surgical training in corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), tumors/cysts of the jaws, face trauma, dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, cleft lip and palate, face reconstruction and bone grafting. He is delighted to have moved back to his home state of Utah and working with Platinum Dental Services. He also has a passion for serving others abroad and continues to treat less fortunate patients on mission trips overseas. When Dr. Heward is not at work he enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, biking, shooting, gardening, wood working and cooking.

Dr. Daniel Burstein - Orthodontist

I was looking for an Orthodontist and am so glad I found Dr. Burstein! He was very nice and knew the best treatments to help me get my best smile. I would reccomend him to anyone!

Born in Santiago, Chile in 1960. My family moved to the USA in 1962. I grew up speaking both English and Spanish. We moved to California where I went to college, dental school, and orthodontic specialty school where I became an Orthodontist in 2020. My wife and I moved to Atlanta, GA in 1993 where we raised 3 boys who are now all out of the house. I have owned and operated my orthodontic practice in Atlanta since 1995. I recently sold my office to join Platinum. I have years of experience in managing an orthodontic practice both in clinical and administrative areas. I am proficient in all clinical aspects of orthodontic care. I specialize in expanders, habit appliances, braces, bite correctors, in house aligners using Orchestrate 3D software, as well as invisalign. My goal is to join a dental/orthodontic group where I can concentrate on providing treatment to patients in need. I joined Platinum because I aim to provide care to those in need without the distraction of running a private practice. I also look forward to enjoying more professional interactions and participation in more interdisciplinary orthodontic treatment plans.

Dr. Robert Swenson - Periodontist

Seeing a dentist is rarely at the top of the list of fun things to do. Dr Swenson and his staff may not have put it on the top of the list but they definitely helped move it up several notches. They were professional, competent and friendly. Highly recommend him if you are looking for a good Periodontist.

Dr. Swenson grew up in Utah County, he attended Pleasant Grove and Mountain View high schools. After high school he served a mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in France and Switzerland. After his mission, Dr. Swenson attended BYU and earned a B.S. degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Swenson later moved to Richmond, Virginia to attend VCU dental school. While there he met his wife, Andrea, as she returned from her mission in Colorado. They were married in the Washington, DC temple. Dr. Swenson graduated from Dental school in 2015 with his DDS degree, honors from Quintessence Publications for his research in Oral Cancer, and honors from the American Academy of Periodontology for his work in Periodontics.
